I first off would like to welcome all of our New freshman and all 8,000 new students to San Diego State University. Football is a big sport for University unity all over the Nation. San Diego State’s major men’s sports are football and basketball.

As everyone knows our basketball is one of the best in the nation and has sold out all home games for the upcoming basketball season. Football in San Diego has the potential to be big. We hope you will all utilize the San Diego weather and cheer on your San Diego State Aztecs this coming season.

Now let’s get down to business.  San Diego State University students can now receive their “free ticket” at the Viejas Arena ticket office and all ticket offices at Qualcomm Stadium. Along with the “free ticket” you will receive a free trolley pass from San Diego State to Qualcomm and back to San Diego State on game day. These trolley passes will only be available for the first 5,000 or so students. To guaranty yourself a free trolley ticket I would get the student ticket on the first day of game week.

This year SDSU students will be able to buy two guest passes for the San Diego State Football games. The tickets cost $5 a piece. Before the game this Saturday against Army your AS “Associated Students” will be putting on a huge tailgate starting at 2:30pm just two hours before the kick off against Army at 4:30 pm.  Remember folks please limit your alcohol consumption!!! Do not drive drunk!!! AS is giving the trolley passes for a reason!! Please make sure not to disrupt fans at the game trying to have a great time. Lets go out their and cheer on not only SDSU but the Armed Forces. The game against Army is also the Geico Fleet Week Classic.

***We will have student writers on location at Qualcomm this Saturday and we will be uploading pictures and highlights to our post game story following the game. ***

The following are your game notes from the one and only GoAztecs.com

San Diego State opens a three-game homestand, its first in 10 years, on Saturday when is plays host to Army in the Geico Fleet Week Classic at 4:30 p.m. PT. The game will be nationally televised by NBC Sports Network, with radio coverage provided by KOGO 95.7 FM & AM 600.

The Aztecs are looking to bounce back following a 21-12 loss at Washington last Saturday. San Diego State trailed, 14-0, less than 10 minutes into the game, but held an edge in the play throughout the rest of the contest. After yielding touchdowns on the first two drives of the game, the defense held the high-powered Husky offense without a point on their final seven offensive possessions. Meanwhile, the Aztec offense got in gear, with three drives of 71 yards or more in the contest. The teams had nearly the same total offense (UW 328, SDSU 327) and time of possession (UW 31:03, SDSU 28:57), but San Diego State was unable to overcome three turnovers, including a 44-yard fumble return for touchdown early in the third quarter.

The Aztecs and Black Knights are meeting for the second time in school history on the back end of a home-and-home series. Last season, San Diego State traveled to historic Michie Stadium and departed with a 23-20 victory. Colin Lockett caught five passes for 113 yards and a touchdown and the Aztec defense forced eight fumbles, recovering three.

San Diego State will be looking to continue a recent trend of success against service academy teams. Since the beginning of the 2010 campaign, the Aztecs are 4-0 against the academies (2-0 vs. Air Force, 1-0 vs. Army and 1-0 vs. Navy).
