Volleyball’s Greatest Moment


Volley ball in London turned out to be one of the most competitive Olympic sports. USA’s Men and Women favored by many to end up on the medal podium only had one medal. The American men’s team was eliminated by a tough and stronger Italian team. An upset the gold medal favorite and defining Olympic Champions were out for good.

The American women’s team who had never won a gold medal in the team arena played a tough fought match against defending world champion Brazil. They were unable to pull out the gold and settled for the Silver medal.

The men’s pair beach volleyball team’s who were the defending Olympic champions Todd Rogers and Phil Dalhausser were upset by the Italians. Also American’s Jacob Gibb and Sean Rosenthal were upset by the Latvian team.

The women’s pair of beach volleyball team’s made it all the way to the finals culminating in a third Olympic gold medal for Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh Jennings against their American counterparts Jennifer Kessy and April Ross who settled for silver.

Misty May -Tranor and Kerri Walsh will end their Olympic Career as the best beach volleyball pair in Olympic History.  Dominating the sport for three Olympiads, Walsh Jennings and May-Treanor have won every match they’ve ever played at the Summer Games and lost just one of 43 sets.
