SDSU Basketball: Information For Madness On The Mesa.
San Diego State basketball fans we invite you to Viejas Arena on Friday October 12th for Madness on the Mesa. The event features your Mountain West Conference Regular Season Champion and MWC Championship runner-up Men’s basketball team led by the legendary Coach Steve Fisher. The event also features your Mountain West Conference Regular Season Champion and Conference Champion women’s team also led by legendary Coach Beth Burns. The event is free and starts promptly at 9 p.m. PT. at Viejas Arena on October 12th.
Now many of you may be asking why is this event on Friday the 12th? The answer is simple. October 12th is the first day of sanctioned NCAA basketball practice. This event has been a long time in the making as Coach Steve Fisher has never really liked the Idea of Midnight Madness. Coach has always been one that believed Midnight Madness is a distraction to the team. This year its different. New assistant graduate Coach Tim Shelton and Coach Tony Bland were able to convince Coach Fisher to hold the event.
This event is going to be a way to showcase to the next recruiting class for San Diego State basketball what SDSU is all about. The Show will be in attendance blowing the roof off of Viejas Arena like always. Their will be events for SDSU students so make sure if you are a student planning to attend the event you bring your Red ID. During the competitions in which the students are competing DJ Fingaz, Xzibit’s official DJ, will spin while highlights are shown on the video board.
The men’s and women’s basketball teams will be introduced during the midway point of the event. Both men’s and women’s teams are expected to be ranked when the season commences. We will see a three-point competition involving both teams. Both teams are expected to scrimmage against each other at some point during the event. For those in the audience you will see the unavailing of Tim Shelton’s (TES) new music video for the up coming season. The event will conclude with an amazing dunk competition.
***We will have multiple writers from San Diego Sports Domination covering the event. If we are able to find wifi at the event we will be uploading photos onto the DoubleSD @SanDiego_Sports twitter account***
We leave you with the soon to be old Aztec Motto.
