Hello SDSD readers,

My name is Sam Barrick and I’m a new contributing writer for SDSD. I just recently graduated from SDSU in May and will be primarily covering women’s water polo as well as a grab bag of other sports. My athletic background includes playing club water polo player at SDSU but I enjoy almost every sport. I’ll root for any team that dons an Aztec or USA jersey, even if it’s color guard .

My biggest passion in San Diego sports is without a doubt Aztec Basketball. There’s no better place to be than the Mad House on the Mesa on game night (UNM last season at home anyone?). All of this recent Aztec glory in football, baseball, and basketball, among others, has given me a voracious appetite to not only consume every Aztec statistic known to man, but to share it with others and create mini Aztec disciples all over San Diego.

Although my favorite sport is basketball, I spent nine years of my life playing water polo and therefore can cover it to a tee. I love my alma mater and that’s why I’m here. You’ll be hearing more from me in the Fall once more college and pro sports begin. If you have any questions for me just let me know!
