San Diego Strike Force Fighting for the Playoffs

The San Diego Strike Force (SDSF) is on a mission to make the Indoor Football League playoffs in back-to-back seasons for the first time in franchise history. SDSF finished the 2024 regular season with a 10-6 record, earning the second seed in the Western Conference. SDSF won the first playoff game in franchise history on Sunday, July 28th, 2024. The SDSF went on the road and defeated the Bay Area Panthers 49 to 40. SDSF and BAP would meet a total of five times in 2024. The series favored BAP, which won 3 of the 5 matchups.

We have seven weeks, including this weekend, left to play in the 2025 IFL season. As we stand now, the SDSF is in the 4th and final playoff slot in the Western Conference. We have six games (3 home & 3 road) left to play.

Let’s break down the SDSF remaining schedule.

Jun 14th at Northern Arizona Wranglers (NAZ)

The SDSF faces the 1-9 Northern Arizona Wranglers (NAZ) today. SDSF is 2-4 all-time against NAZ, including 2-0 in 2025. However, SDSF has never won a game at the Findlay Toyota Center. NAZ is currently the worst team in the IFL, and I expect SDSF to come away with the victory.

Jun 22nd vs. San Antonio Gunslingers (SA)

SDSF (6-4) and SA (3-7) should be one heck of a game. SDSF is 1-1 all-time against the San Antonio Gunslingers, including 0-1 in 2025. These two teams have met twice, with the home team winning each game. These games have been pretty close between the two teams, with the SDSF losing on the road by 1 point. SDSF has scored 117 points and given up 110 points in the series. SDSF should have one the game in SA, and I believe they will pull the game out at home thanks to home-field advantage.

Jul 7th vs. Bay Area Panthers (BAP)

At the time I am writing this, BAP (7-2) is currently the best team in the Western Conference. SDSF is 3-8 all-time against BAP, including 0-2 in 2025. Historically, these two teams have played each other very closely. Before this season, five of nine games had been decided by one score or less. SDSF only has one career home win against the BAP, and that came back in 2022.

San Diego Strike Force WR Mike Carrigan (4) is tackled shortly after making a catch against Las Vegas on Monday, March 31st, 2025, at Frontwave Arena in Oceanside, CA. David Frerker on assignment for San Diego Strike Force.

Jul 12th at Arizona Rattlers (AZ)

The Arizona Rattlers are one of the most decorated teams in indoor football history. They are also the defending IFL champions. AZ does have a hard schedule rounding out the season. They will play 4 of the 6 remaining games against teams sitting in playoff position. SDSF is 0-2 all-time at home and is 1-3 all-time on the road against the Rattlers. The Rattlers have outscored the SDSF 321-215 in the history of the series. Rattlers are scoring an average of 54 PPG against SDSF. Can BAP and Green Bay give AZ some hard games? Going to say that the Rattlers are gonna take this game.

Jul 19th at Fishers Freight (FF)

This will be the first meeting in team history for either team. Fishers Freight is a member of the Eastern Conference and has been struggling this season. FF is currently sitting at 2-8 and second worst in the Eastern Conference. Based on records, we will give the SDSF the win.

Jul 27th vs. Arizona Rattlers

This will be the final game of the 2025 regular season for both teams. I highly expect that Arizona will have locked in a playoff game and possibly a home game. If they have a home game locked, I don’t believe we will see starters get a bunch of playing time. That could also be possible if SDSF has locked a home playoff game. This might be an interesting game!

San Diego Strike Force QB Nate Davis (8) stiff arms the defender against Tucson on Sunday, April 31st, 2025, at Frontwave Arena in Oceanside, CA. David Frerker on assignment for San Diego Strike Force.

How will the season end for the San Diego Strike Force? I believe that we will end the season with a 9-7 record. With wins over Northern Arizona, San Antonio, and Fishers Freight. Will 9-7 be enough to host our first-ever home playoff game? I believe that it won’t. For San Diego to host a home playoff match, we must win 5 of the 6 remaining games.

My final Western Conference Playoff Standing Predictions:

  • Bay Area 13-3
  • Arizona 11-5
  • Las Vegas 10-6
  • San Diego 9-7

We want to hear from you! How do you think the season will end? Let us know in the comments.
