Padres: Yasmani Grandal Homers From Both Sides Of The Plate
Nick Hundley has been struggling with his hitting average and as since been sent down to the minor leagues. The Padres sent up Rookie Yasmani Grandal from Triple-A Tucscon. Yasmani Grandal came over to the San Diego Padres in the Matt Latos trade with the Cincinnati Reds along with Pitcher Edinson Volquez, 1B Yonder Alonso, and Pitcher Brad Boxberger.
In the trade the Padres acquired catcher Yasmani Grandal and first baseman Yonder Alonso. Grandal is a switch hitting power hitter from Havana, Cuba. Grandal has a tremendous amount of potential. He is the best hitting catcher in the Padres system. He would be known as an offensive catcher not a defensive catcher. Grandal needs to place in more work on the field in developing his arm strength. His only weakness is gunning out runners on the base path. He will grow stronger and his accuracy will grow over time.
BREAKING: that’s 2 homers for #Padres Yasmani Grandal tonight. His first 2 career MLB hits are home runs, 1 from each side of plate.

This quote is from MLB.com:
Grandal, a 23-year-old rookie acquired by the Padres from the Reds this past offseason, is the first player in MLB history to have his first two career hits as homers from opposite sides of the plate in the same game, according to Elias Sports Bureau. Grandal is the sixth player since 1974 with a multi-homer game in his first big league start, also according to Elias. He is the fourth player in Padres history to homer from both sides of the plate in the same game, and the ninth to homer for his first Major League hit.
