Interview: Flatland BMX Red Bull Athlete Terry Adams

I was fortunate enough to be granted an interview with Flatland BMX Red Bull Athlete, Terry Adams. Adams has won numerous medals in international Flatland BMX competitions including the X-Games. I would like to thank my fraternity (ΦΔΘ) brother Ikaika Kekua for the great photographs of the Flatland BMX Demo held at San Diego State University.

Interview with Terry Adams

DoubleSD: What sparks your interest in flatland BMX?

Terry Adams “I got interested in flatland as a kid because the tricks they were doing looked impossible. It is a very complex form of BMX that involves using your mind and your bike to create original tricks. I was stoked on flatland because it was so different than anything I had ever seen.  As a kid my dream was to become a professional rider and after years of contests, magazine coverage’s and acquiring sponsors I know live that dream.”

DoubleSD: What companies are you sponsored by?

Terry Adams: I ride for Red Bull, Odyssey, Flatware, Dan’s Comp, Freegun Underwear, and Raising Canes Chicken Fingers.

DoubleSD: What is your favorite flatland BMX style?

Terry Adams: I love watching riders that are innovative and are always looking for ways to push the boundaries of the sport. Flatland is a form of creating art like painting a picture on the ground with your bike.

DoubleSD: I hear you have invented a trick called the “Katrina”. Can you tell our fans about that tick?

Terry Adams: I invented the “Katrina” trick during the devastating hurricane that went through Louisiana in 2005. Shortly after inventing the trick I was featured on the cover of Transworld BMX magazine and was the first flatland rider to grace the cover in over 10 years.

DoubleSD: Do you have anything else you would like our audience to know?

Terry Adams: Please follow instagram and twitter @terryadamsbmx  @redbullsd

Below is a video of Terry Adams from two years ago during his Red Bull National Tour. Yes this video is old, it shows how good of a Flatland BMX rider Terry Adams is.
