As everyone knows the Aztec defense had some issues controlling the field on defense this past weekend against Fresno State. The Aztec defense is having major difficulties with the oppositions passing game. The Aztec offensive unit did not help the struggling defense giving up four turnovers. Below we have given the readers all of the stats for both teams up to date. Drawing a conclusion from the statistics San Diego State will win this game in blowout fashion. Looking back in the past weeks SDSU played a Washington team who likes to play the spread followed by Army who likes to play the triple option. The Aztec defense is lockdown on the running game and does need work with passing. The Aztecs offensive is unstoppable with the double tangent of Walter Kazee and Adam Muema. The two backs are averaging over five yards per carry on the season. Behind a great passing attack lead by Oregon State transfer Ryan Katz and should be All-American tight end Gavin Escobar.

San Diego State beat a bad team in Army and a good FCS team in North Dakota. The Aztecs lost to three very good teams in Fresno State, San Jose State and Washington. The San Diego State defense has played very bad in the fourth quarter so far this season giving up 41 points. The San Diego State ground attack will be the difference in this game vs. Colorado State. Colorado State as pictured above is ranked 108th in the nation against the run.

Now lets break down Colorado States schedule up to this point in the season. Colorado State won their first game of the season against rival Colorado. Then lost to a FCS school North Dakota State in which they were favored to win. Colorado State then lost to a good San Jose State team who beat us (SDSU) earlier this season. Next Colorado State lost to a good Utah State team at home. Followed by a loss to a mediocre Air Force squad. Last week Colorado State lost to a very good Fresno State squad. Heading into this weekends game against San Diego State the CSU team is 1-5.

Loss vs. North Dakota State = 22 – 7
Loss at. San Jose State = 40 – 20
Loss vs. Utah State = 31 – 19
Loss at. Air Force = 42 -21
Loss vs. Fresno State = 28 – 7
When San Diego State and Colorado State met last season SDSU came away with an 18 to 15 victory. The victory made SDSU bowl eligible for the second straight season. The major offensive statistical difference was in passing as SDSU had 154 yards to Colorado States 52 yards. The Aztecs gave up 235 yards on the ground. SDSU won the turnover battle 2-1 and won time of possession with 40:36 to CSU’s 19:24.

The last time San Diego State and Colorado State played each other SDSU starting quarterback Ryan Lindley broke the Mountain West Conference career passing yards 11,494 to pass former BYU quarterback Max Hall’s 11,365 yards. Lindley also broke the San Diego State Career passing yards record passing Todd Santos’ mark of 11,425 yards.
