San Diego Sports: Big Sports Weekend (Events and Times)
This weekend is a huge sports weekend for San Diego. With games going on around the nation! This is a short article to give everyone a view of which San Diego sports teams are playing and the times/locations they play at. Please come out and support San Diego sports this weekend as you can see below many of the San Diego State sports teams are playing big games that determine post season play and some NCAA tournament games! ***(All of the game times listed below are Western Standard Time)*** Now lets see some San Diego Sports Domination this weekend!!
San Diego Sockers vs. Real Phoenix (7:05 p.m.) Valley View Casino Center (formally known as the San Diego Sports Arena). The San Diego Soccer won their last game against Sac town 15-2. The San Diego Sockers have won 38 straight games and are the most winning professional sports team in San Diego history.
Saturday Events
SDSU vs. Air Force (12:30 p.m. Qualcomm)The San Diego State Aztecs who are in the mist of a 5 game winning streak will attempt to remain in first place in the Mountain West Conference as they battle one of the four first place teams in Air Force. Air Force is ranked 3rd in the nation in rushing offense and San Diego State is ranked in the 20’s in rush defense. The Aztecs are the best rush defense in the Mountain West Conference. USD vs. Morehead State (Kick off is schedule for 6:05 p.m.) USD is having a great football season currently sitting at 5-3. This is the final USD home game of the season at Walter J. Zable Field at Torero Stadium. If you like USD make sure you go out and support the Toreros!
No. 4 SDSU (Women’s Soccer) vs. Cal State Northridge (7.00 p.m.) SDSU Sports Deck first round of the NCAA women’s soccer tournament. The Aztec women’s soccer team is 19-1-1 on the season and has a great chance to win a National Championship this season. If you are free and love soccer make sure to head over to SDSU as we are expecting a packed game against SDSU’s future rival in the Big West.
SDSU (Women’s Basketball) vs. UCLA (7:00 p.m.) This game between SDSU and UCLA will open the new Pauley Pavilion. The SDSU women’s basketball team under head coach Beth Burns was picked to win the Mountain West conference for the second straight season. The Aztecs will return 10 players from last years NCAA tournament team.
Sunday Events
San Diego Chargers vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (10:00 a.m.) Chargers play the Bucs in Tampa Bay, Florida. The No. 4 Chargers run defense will attempt to stop the young rookie Doug Martin who is No. 2 in the nation in yards.
No. 20 SDSU (Men’s Basketball) vs. No. 9 Syracuse (1:00 p.m.) U.S.S Midway Museum on the San Diego Bay. First men’s basketball game of the regular season. (Game Preview) This will be a big game for both basketball programs. ESPN’s Dick Vitale and Andy Katz have both favored San Diego State to win the Mountain West Conference.
