The San Diego State Aztecs will meet the San Diego Christian Hawks Tuesday night before a sold out crowd at Viejas Arena on the Campus of San Diego State University. The Aztecs come into tonight’s game as the favorites to win this game. The player to watch tonight is San Diego State Star Jamaal Franklin. Tonight’s game will show a lot about Franklin as he attempts to bounce back from a bad game on the Midway. The Aztecs did not practice yesterday instead they chose to watch film on their loss to Syracuse. They came away from that team meeting with great teaching points that should help them tonight. Look for the Aztecs to shoot better from the line and from the field tonight!

The San Diego State Aztecs are ranked 25th by the AP after the Aztecs loss to Syracuse (Battle On The Midway).This is perhaps the most hyped team in SDSU history even more so than the 34-3 team two years ago. The Aztecs starting five for tonight’s game will be Xavier Thames, Chase Tapley. Jamaal Franklin, JJ ‘O Brien and DeShawn Stephens. As of now it appears that the San Diego State freshman, Winston Shepard and Skylar Spencer will not be redshirting this season. Matt Shrigley will be the only Aztec freshman red-shirting this season. The San Diego State Aztecs last met San Diego Christian last season. The Aztecs blew out the Hawks 83 -52.

The Hawks  have some height on their team with Garrett Elwood (6-10), Peter Beale-Wirsing (6-7), Kevin Dawson (6-6) and Andy Saharan (6-6). The shortest player’s on the SDC team are Derek Dickerson (5-9) and Kwaminique Brandon (5-11). The height will be good practice for SDSU as they struggled against North Carolina State in the 2011 NCAA tournament due to the height differential. The Aztecs also struggled against the Syracuse 2-3 zone due to the height difference.
