Double SD’s Heisman Prediction.
Me, along with other writers have agreed to post our own predictions on this year’s Heisman race. While you’ll see mine, check back in a few days to see with other writers have to say as they’ll update the post. With all that being said, here is my Heisman prediction.
Writer Prediction: Senior Editor Eric Anderson
School: Texas A&M
Position: QB
Name: Johnny Manziel
Why? Manziel has taken the world by storm, Johnny football’s first season of college football broke the SEC record for yards set by Tim Tebow, later broken by Cam Newton, and now is held by Manziel. But it isn’t his throwing ability, it’s his running game as well as he rushed for over 1,100 yards this season. He led his team over Alabama, in ‘Bama in a huge upset. And while he won’t play in the SEC Championship game, you’ll probably see him in another BCS bowl game. Manziel’s leadership, arm, running ability, skill and the fact that he’s doing this at such a young age (he’s only 19). Are some of the reasons I believe he will win the Heisman this season.
Writer Prediction: CEO/ Founder David Frerker
School: Notre Dame
Position: OLB
Name: Manti Te’o
Why? Manti Te’o has taken the world by storm, Te’os ’s senior season of college leading the Notre Dame defense to become the sixth best defense in the nation. He led his team over ranked Michigan State, Michigan, Stanford and Oklahoma. He led the 1st place Irish into USC to take on the preseason favorite to finish in first and played a great game with Five tackles, three solo tackles and one interception. 2012 Season Stats: 101 tackles, 46 solo tackles, two sacks and seven interceptions. He will be playing in the BCS Championship game, it is because of Te’o’s leadership and skill. Are some of the reasons I believe he will win the Heisman this season.
*Note*
The same voters that have the problem with voting for Manziel because he is a freshman will likely also have an issue voting for a defender.
Even though some people don’t like to vote for Freshman players, Manziel is as good a candidate as anybody else!
That’s exactly what I’m saying. Being a Freshman takes nothing away from his ability and instead should only add because he’s doing this now. What about his Junior and Senior year?
