The players to watch in Wednesday’s game are Jamaal Franklin and Chase Tapley. Jamaal Franklin enters the game against Fresno State averaging 17.2 points and 9.9 rebounds in 13 games this season. Chase Tapley enters the game against Fresno State averaging 15.7 points and 3.7 rebounds in 12 games this season.

The Aztecs are still trying to improve with shooting from the floor and behind the arc. The Aztecs are shooting 45.3% from the floor and 35.1% from behind the arc. This team has a plethora of shooters and can blow out teams when they are shooting their best as they did against Arkansas Pine Bluff, UCLA and UCSB. The Aztecs need major improvement in the free throw game but have improved their free throw shooting average to 67.1%. The Aztecs have also been working harder this season on offensive and defensive rebounds. The Aztecs have shown how much work pays off in the rebounding game as the Aztecs are out rebounding their opponents 522 to 457.

The San Diego State Aztecs are ranked 16th by the AP Top 25 and 15th in the USA Today coaches’ poll. This is perhaps the most hyped team in SDSU history even more so than the 34-3 team two years ago. The Aztecs starting five for Wednesday’s game will be Winston Shepard, Chase Tapley. Jamaal Franklin, JJ ‘O Brien and DeShawn Stephens. Xavier Thames will sit out tonight’s game with a bad back. Once again the only San Diego State freshman who is red-shirting this season is Matt Shrigley. Look for Skylar Spencer, Winston Shepard, Dwayne Polee II and James Johnson to recieve alot of minutes in tonights game.

The Bull Dogs have some height on their team with Jerry Brown (6-7), Kevin Foster (6-8), Braeden Anderson (6-9), Tanner Giddings (6-10) and Robert Upshaw (7-0).The smallest players on the Fresno State team are Allen Huddleston (6-2), Tyler Johnson (6-2) and Kevin Olekaible (6-2).The Bull Dogs have a good-sized squad that will put up a fight on the boards against a very talented Aztec squad.

On the line tonight is San Diego State’s 31-game win streak against California teams. The last time the two school met was 2009 and the Aztecs escaping Fresno State with the victory 62-58. We apologise that we have not included a highlight film as we were unable to find one.
