SDSU Basketball: No. 16 SDSU Win’s In OT 79-72 Over CSU

The San Diego State Aztecs and the Colorado State Rams met at a sold out Viejas Arena (12,414).  SDSU went on an 11 to three run very early in the game. That made the score 17 to 8. SDSU was shooting 5-6 from three-point range lead by Jamaal Franklin who had 8 of the 17 points. By halftime SDSU held on to at 42 to 23 lead over Colorado State. Jamaal Franklin would be the leading scorer with 18 points. The Aztecs shot 10  for 18 from the three-point line in the first half of the game. Jamaal Franklin threw down this slam dunk in the closing minutes of the first half of the game. The dunk can be viewed in the highlights section of this post game review.

Colorado State started off the second half of the game on a 12 to 2 run over San Diego State. San Diego State missed some easy lay-up and a couple of three-point shots to help Colorado State to the 12 and 2 run. San Diego State was being out rebounded by Colorado State and was able to hold a lead of 48 to 40 at the 12 minute media time out.San Diego State was leading Colorado State 62 to 61 with a :42.0 secounds remaining in the game. Colorado State sent James Rahon to the line shooting free throws to give the Aztecs a two point lead. San Diego State and Colorado State would get the ball back and tie up the game. Jamaal Franklin would make a huge block which is in highlights. The Aztecs and Rams would play on in overtime. The Aztecs would be lead in over time by Chase Tapley who came up big. The Aztecs are now 15 for their last 16 overtime games.

The Aztecs ended the game shooting 24-62 (37.8%) from the floor, 13-29 (44.8%) from beyond the arc and 18-25 (72%) from the free throw line. The player of the game for SDSU was Jamaal Franklin who scored 23 points and had 7 rebounds.
