SDSU Football: Recruiting Update #2

This past weekend was huge for San Diego State football. San Diego State football received two more commitments from Darryl Richardson and Fred Melifonwu. This is going to be a short recruiting update on each of the new commits. We have compiled a list of offers that each recruit held at the time they committed to San Diego State and any schools they held interest in. You will also be able to see highlight videos of each commit.

Darryl Richardson

Darryl Richardson is an 6’5″, 230 pound pro-style quarterback from Armwood High School in Seffner, Florida. Richardson is going to be brought in by San Diego State to play Tight End. The goal with Richardson is to make him the next great San Diego State Tight End. Richardson held offers from Mississippi, Missouri, San Diego State, South Florida, Tennessee, UCLA and West Kentucky. Richardson was recruited by SDSU’s Tony White.

Originally recruited as a quarterback after transferring from Tampa Bay Tech in January 2011, Richardson projects as a tight end in college.Teeming with physical upside (6-foot-5, 220 pounds), Richardson threw for more than 1,800 yards and 20 touchdowns his two years with Armwood. He moved to receiver midway through the ’12 season, catching five passes for 82 yards and a pair of TDs. TampaBay.com

Fred Melifonwu

Fred Melifonwu is an 6’5″, 210 pound weakside defensive end from Lincoln High School in San Diego, California. Melifonwu held offers from Colorado, Colorado State, Hawaii, Nevada, New Mexico, New Mexico State, San Jose State, San Diego State, Washington, Washington State and Weber State.
