SDSU Baseball: SDSU vs. Seton Hall (Series Recap)
San Diego State and Seton Hall met up this past weekend at Tony Gwynn Stadium. The Aztecs were attempting to break out of a home losing streak that started by getting swept by Oregon State. The San Diego State Aztecs did just that and killed the losing streak. The Aztecs overwhelmed Seaton Hall and got back on the winning track sweeping the three game series. The sweep of Seton Hall improves San Diego States overall record to 7-5. The Aztecs who have been struggling on the offensive side of the game produced 20 RBI’s over the course of the three game series.
The Aztecs won game one of the series by a score of 4-3.
The two stand out players from game one for San Diego State were Greg Allen who had three hits, scored three runs and had one RBI and John Spirk who had one hit and two RBI’s. Greg Allen and Matt Munoz combined all four of the SDSU runs scored against Seton Hall. The Aztecs would have a masterful day at the plate with seven hits and four RBI’s! The Aztecs ended the game with a team batting average of .225 and four RBI’s.The Aztec pitching staff of Michael Cederoth, Mike Robards, Ethan Miller and Bubba Derby combined for eight strikeouts and three earned run over the course of nine innings.
The Aztecs won game two of the series by a score of 10-4.
The two stand out players from game one for San Diego State were John Spirk had two hits and three RBI’s and Tyler France who had one hit and three RBI’s. Allen and Potter combined for five of the ten run’s SDSU scored against Seton Hall.The Aztecs would have a masterful day at the plate with 13 hits and ten RBI’s! The Aztecs ended the game with a team batting average of .382 and ten RBI’s. The Aztec pitching staff of Philip Walby, Mitch Bluman, Tyler Sapp and Cody Thompson combined for seven strikeouts and four earned runs over the course of nine innings.The Aztecs held Seton Hall to a team batting average of .305 (11/36) and only four RBI’s.

The two stand out players from game one for San Diego State were Even Potter who had one hit and two RBI’s and Avondre Bollar who had one hit and two RBI’s. Allen and Romanski combined for three of the six run’s SDSU scored against Seton Hall. The Aztecs would have a good day at the plate with six hits and six RBI’s! The Aztecs ended the game with a team batting average of .206 and six RBI’s. The Aztec pitching staff of Ryan Doran and Bubba Derby combined for seven strikeouts and two earned runs over the course of nine innings. The Aztecs held Seton Hall to a team batting average of .272 and only two RBI’s.
Overall the San Diego State baseball team showed that this season could be very magical. The Aztecs have a few players that are off to fast starts. Tim Zier is off to a good start batting .265 (13/49) of those 11 hits coming as singles and two doubles. Zier has driven in ten runs to lead the Aztecs after 12 games. Greg Allen (12 games played) is also off to an extremely fast start leading the team in batting average .353 (18/51) with 17 of those hits coming as singles and one double. Allen has seven RBI’s to date.
