After a bad loss to New York on Monday, the Padres looked to gain some pride back after opening their season the way they did. However, that didn’t happen. The scoring came quickly once again as the Mets grabbed a 2 run home run in the bottom of the 2nd, and again in the bottom of the 4th. By the 5th inning, it was 8-0 and once again the Padres were out of the game early. Three home runs burned the Padres while Clayton’s control didn’t look very good. It took until the 8th for the first Padre run, they also grabbed another 3 in the 9th inning. Harvey looked great, allowing only 1 hit. Richard was the exact opposite allowing 7 hits, and 8 earned runs in just 4 1/3 inning. I know it’s early, but it scares me to see the top of this lineup–which I thought would play pretty decent–struggle early in their debuts. Padres go down once again, 8-4.
Player of the Game: Matt Harvey: 7 IP, 1 hit, 10 K’s, 1 BB, 0 earned runs.
