***According to our team sources that Aztecs will travel to play Air Force this Thursday night. We did out best today to keep everyone updated with info gathered from team sources aka players on the team. We wanted to make sure the information was correct on both the Air Force side and the San Diego State side. The players had not heard at 11:30 am this morning if the game would be played. We got a response from one of the players at 11:51 a.m. that the game would be played as stated.  Below is the original Tweet stating the game would be played.***

AFA 89th 121st 11th 99th 111th

San Diego State Overall (2-3) Conference (1-0)

The Aztec Defensive line should be ready to stop the Air Force ground attack. In the last three games the SDSU rush defense has given up 105 carries for 227 yards an Average of 2.16 YPC. Colin Lockett did not play against Nevada due to a concussion that he suffered against New Mexico State. It is not known yet if Lockett will play against Air Force on Thursday. The Aztecs will be in hands of red shirt freshman Eric Judge who played a hell of a game Friday night against Nevada on ESPN (6 catches for 54 yards and two touchdowns).

The Air Force rush defense will be busy trying to figure out how to stop the Aztec rushing attack. Donnel Pumphrey the speedster can beat you on the outside and Adam Muema can beat you running inside the tackles. Pumphrey has recorded over 200 rushing yards in back to back games and Muema looks to be the same running back we saw last season. It will be interesting to see if the Aztecs decide to stick with walk on quarterback Quinn Kaehler (2-1 record as a starter) or if the Aztecs decide to change back to Adam Dingwell. Dingwell was injured in the Aztecs loss at Ohio State and has been on the bench ever since.

Air Force Academy Overall (1-5) Conference (0-4)

The San Diego State defense who has been having trouble against the passing game will not have to worry about this inferior Air Force team. Air Force who is normally a good team lost their quarterback early on in the season with a season ending knee injury. Air Force was able to keep chugging along with the talented sophomore quarterback Jaleel Awini. Awini has been suspended by the Air Force Academy which is a major blow to the team.

Awini, officials said in a news release, is “no longer a cadet in good standing and not eligible to represent the academy in any outside activities” including football. The announcement said: “All cadets are held to the same high standards — honor, physical fitness, academics and military aptitude — and each case is handled on its own individual merits.” (Link)

Air Force is now down to their last quarterback according to the Air Force roster. Air Force has been one of the worst teams in the nation this year at throwing the football. That mean’s it is all up to the strong defensive line of the Aztecs to shut down the Air Force run game.
