Fanpics the total fan experience.
Have you ever wondered what you and your friends look like when you are cheering at a sporting event and what that raw, candid emotion that is elicited by the edge-of-your-seat action looks like? For the first time, Fanpics, a cutting-edge San Diego-based social media photo-sharing platform, is allowing local fans to capture their priceless reactions to the most exciting moments during the course of a live game. No “selfies” needed, which means fans no longer need to take their eyes off the action to take pics of them and their friends to help tell their story on their social media channels.
Local San Diegans now have access to this exciting technology that is the future of the fan experience. Fanpics patented camera technology is installed in the rafters of Viejas Arena to produce a 360-degree view of the arena and of every seat and the company offers a free app so your pictures can be sent to your phone in real-time throughout the game. The app also links directly to your social media pages so you can easily share your photos and tell your game-day story like never before.
Once you have downloaded the application you get asked to check in. After you have chosen the correct sporting venue and game, you then are asked to find out where you are sitting. You will now plug-in your section, row and your seat number. It is as simple as that. The game begins and so does the real-time delivery of still shots, capturing photos of you and your buddies cheering on the Aztecs. Now you may be asking, when does Fanpics take the photos. That question is very simple. The Fanpics cameras take photos during amazing plays throughout the game. Those plays can range from dunks, three-point shots, important layups, blocks or even bad foul calls. At the end of this article you will be able to enjoy a gallery of photos taken by Fanpics and submitted by San Diego State Fans.
Here is some more information on Fanpics. Creating the next “Big Thing” in the in-game experience, Fanpics provides fans, teams and sponsors the ability to stay engaged with each other throughout the game with its patented camera technology. By capturing photos of every participating fan at every moment in the game and pushing them to each users’ phone in real-time via the free app, Fanpics is celebrating the power of the gameday experience and providing fans with the ability to tell their gameday story like never before.
A pilot program ran this past year at SDSU basketball games and Fanpics achieved a 20% usage rate, users opened the app an average of 12 times per game and swiped through their photos an average of 55 times. I can personally say that I check my Fanpics during every single time out. Once I arrive home from the Aztecs game I upload all of my Fanpics to Facebook. The first professional team to use Fanpics was the LA Galaxy. In 2015 Fanpics is back in Viejas Arena as they have renewed their partnership with SDSU.
I created one of the largest San Diego State Basketball Fan Groups (Official SDSU Basketball (Student Run) Fan Page) on all of Facebook. Currently The Official SDSU Basketball (Student Run) Fan Page was created in 2009 and currently has more than 2,700 members. Most of the Fanpics that you will see below were submitted to us via the aforementioned Facebook group. We received over 200 + Fanpics submissions for this article through all of our social media sites. We had a ton of fun working on this project and might start posting Fanpics photos at the end of every season.
