Making a top 5 list of sports destinations in North America is not easy. There are so many great spots for enjoying a wide variety of sports and meeting some great people along the way. Here are 5 destinations that deserve some special attention.

Seattle, Washington

Home of the 2014 Super Bowl Champions, Seattle has become a must visit sports destination. Sports fans can also enjoy soccer and professional basketball. The Seattle Mariners at Safeco Field is stunning and you should make sure to take the ride to the top of the Space Needle for the best view in Seattle. At the right time of year you might be lucky enough to catch a Seahawks or Supersonics game.

Burnside Skatepark

Located in Portland, Oregon, Burnside Skate Park has become one of the most famous skate parks in the world. Featured in video games such as Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, Burnside should be on any sports fan’s list of top destinations. Don’t be surprised when you see some of the most popular skaters in the world during your visit there. Skate parks such as these are making exercise fun again for a lot of people who are simply strapping on a great pair of inline skates or grabbing their skateboards. When you are tired of skating for the day you can enjoy the sights of the beautiful and world-renowned Oregon coastline. Make sure to enjoy some great fresh seafood while you are there.

Chicago, Illinois

Chicago is home to the Bulls, the Blackhawks, the Bears, the Cubs and the White Sox. With so many great sports teams it is little wonder that Chicago has such a strong base of sports fans. It is one of the cities that have a team for every major sport. This city offers some of the best sports bars for watching the sports you love but can’t see there.  Future events include the 2015 Big Ten Men’s Basketball Conference and a great season of football, basketball, and more.

Minneapolis, Minnesota

Minneapolis is home to NFL’s Vikings, the MLB’s Twins, the NBA’s Timberwolves and the NHL’s Sharks so no matter what your favourite sport, Minneapolis has a lot to offer. They have been awarded the prestigious distinction of being the site of the 2018 Super Bowl game, which is sure to draw countless football fans from all over the world.

Denver, Colorado

Denver might be most famous for the Broncos football team but it is also home to one of the most scenic and great outdoor skate parks. The Denver skate park is open long hours so you can enjoy the sunrise and sunset of the Rocky Mountains. Lights make it easy to skate when days are short or if you just like to get in your exercise early or late in the day. This park has a huge line up of half pipes, ledges, handrails, and a full street course to challenge your skills.

Planning Your Dream Sports Trip

While many skate parks are open to the public, many sporting events require that tickets be bought well ahead of time. If you are travelling very far this is essential to ensuring that you get to see the sporting event you want. Also make sure to pack any gear that you might need for participating in sports yourself.
