San Diego State (6-3) and Conf (5-0)
The three players to look out for would be QB Maxwell Smith, RB Donnel Pumphrey and WR Mikah Holder. Smith, the Kentucky transfer, has completed 84 of 161 passes for 1240 yards and 9 touchdowns. Pumphrey has had 202 carries for 1031 yards and 12 touchdowns. Pumphrey is also leading the Aztecs in receptions with 21 receptions for 296 yards and 2 touchdowns. So far this season Holder has 17 receptions for 302 yards and 3 touchdowns. San Diego State’s offensive line will play a major role in how this game is played. They have been playing a lot better of late since the conference season started and especially with the return of Greene. The San Diego State defense is going to tell us who wins this game. The Aztec defense has forced 21 turnovers (14 Interceptions and 7 Fumbles) in nine games this season. The Aztec defense has been unstoppable and is now ranked 10th in the nation in total defense. We have included the two best hits to date.
Damontae Kazee Lights up USU WR.
JAKE FELY SACK & FORCED FUMBLE
- Special teams will play a huge role in this game. The edge this week will defiantly go to San Diego State. Here is Rashaad Penny going 97 yards to the house in the first week of the season against University of San Diego. This is one of two kick return touchdowns for Rashaad Penny. Penny is tied with Aztec Alum Colin Lockett for most kick return touchdowns in a single season. Penny has 16 kick returns for an average 34.3 yards per return and a total of 549 yards.
Also, the Aztecs have a weapon in field goal kicker Donny Hageman who nailed two 54 yard field goal’s (University of Southern Alabama and Colorado State). Hageman is 12 for 16 this year on field goals and is 32/32 on extra points. Hageman is second on the team in overall points scored.

Wyoming (1-8) and Conf (1-4)
The three players to look out for would be QB Cameron Coffman, RB Brian Hill and WR Jake Maulhardt. Coffman has completed 129 of 196 passes for 1574 yards and 15 touchdowns. Hill has had 226 carries for 1327 yards and 5 touchdowns. Maulhardt has 49 receptions for 497 yards and 7 touchdowns. Taking a look at the national rankings listed at the top of the article Wyoming is a horrible team. Wyoming is going to need to shut down the Aztecs running game if they wish to win this game. They will want to force San Diego State to throw the football. Offensively Wyoming will want to keep the ball away from the SDSU Defensive backs. The SDSU Secondary is the best in the Mountain West Conference according to preseason rankings. The smart play would be to throw underneath the secondary for 5- to 7- yard gains or throw deep. If I am Wyoming I am going to challenge the safeties and secondary to stop us.
