Last years All Star Game was an all out goal fest, similar to the NFL pro bowl, defensive play always tends to be weaker by means of chemistry along the lines. Here is a breakdown of the new format for the AHL All Star Challenge, as opposed to a game, a tournament of the divisions will be held:

The Skills Competition is the Sunday Night at 5:00 pacific time, and we are hosting a watch party for this at the Gulls new sponsor: Junk House Gastro Pub. In addition to the AHL Skills competition, former SD Gull John Gibson (G) has been elected to the NHL All Star Game, which starts at 2:00 pacific, so the viewing party will theoretically last from 2-7. Junk house will also be showing the NFL Pro Bowl, so you will not miss a minute of the 3 All Star events going on Sunday!
The BIGGER event for us San Diego Gulls Fans is really the AHL All Star Game, which is this Monday at 4:00 pacific. The new format for the tournament should be exciting, and we the fans have created a mass watch party for this historic event, which is Nationally televised on Fox Sports. Come cheer on Ritchie and Montour at Cali Comfort BBQ this Monday night! The games will likely go from 4:00-7:00, and there will be many local fans at the event held at San Diego’s premier BBQ choice. You’ll also have the chance to meet Craig Elsten, the voice of the Gulls, host of Gulls corner, and other 1090 radio broadcasts. Several Gulls Girls will also be in attendance to help promote the team and event, as well as hang out with fans that care! Several other office staff will also be in attendance, and Cali Comfort is giving out 2 autographed pucks to 2 lucky fans! Be sure to come out for a chance to get an autographed puck from one of the two all stars!
To leave cause for excitement, the game is held in Syracuse this year at a stadium which only houses 6,000 seats. The skills competition and all star challenge is still NOT SOLD OUT, which to me is terrible to hear as this is not a bar league, and tickets start only at $50 for two nights of fun… We get 6500 fans on a bad night here in San Diego, and lasts night attendance for an ordinary game was 11,518, surely we could bring mass profit and revenue to such an event. To speculate, could the AHL All Star Game land in San Diego in the near future, I for one, sure hope so. I hope to see you all there Sunday or Monday. Special reminder than next Saturday the Gulls will be wearing special pink jerseys, which will be auctioned off for the Susan B. foundation! Great cause, and first and last time we get to see Milwaukee in San Diego! Go Gulls!
