San Diego, CA – Clayton Kershaw (1-0, 0.00 era) dominated while Tyson Ross (0-1, 11.81 era) struggled to look like the all star he is in first Opening Day start and the Dodgers (1-0) beat the Padres (0-1) 15-0 in front of a sold out crowd at Petco Park.

Tyson Ross started shaky and never really improved as his Cactus League struggles carried over to the home opener. Ross only managed to make it into the sixth inning before being pulled after allowing nine hits and eight runs (seven earned) while walking one and striking out five.

Chase Utley and Corey Seager started things off for LA in the top of the first with back-to-back doubles to start the scoring. Former Padre Adrian Gonzalez then singled to center to bring Seager around to put the Dodgers up 2-0 after the first.

Gonzales would go 3 for 4 with three RBI before being replaced defensively by Scott Van Slyke. A.J Ellis would drive in a pair in the top of the sixth off Tyson Ross and later in the eighth Trayce Thompson would score as Ellis grounded out to shortstop Alexei Ramirez.

Chase Utley added three hits of his own and drove in two runs.

Clayton Kershaw was in mid-season form going seven strong innings. The Padres lineup couldn’t figure him out and managed just one hit while Kershaw struck out nine Padres batters. Matt Kemp and Alexei Ramirez both struck out twice.

Clayton Kershaw made his sixth consecutive Opening Day start for the Dodgers. He’s 4-0 over those starts and the Dodgers have yet to lose with him starting the first game of the season.
