Albion SC Pros are coming into the game against Brazilian affiliate Corinthians USA undefeated with a huge win over San Diego Rival North County Battalion last weekend. Thanks to the amazing play of Albion goalkeeper Jean Antoine (Nominated for Mitre National Premier Soccer League Player of the Week One) who has gone 270 minutes allowing only one goal. Albion SC Pros are also coming into this game as the top defensive team in the NPSL Southwest Division. Albion has come into the picture in a rambunctious manner from having skydivers deliver the game ball, to having 1,500 + fans attend three home games this season and finally to beating the La Galaxy II in a closed exhibition game in LA.

All college students from the San Diego Area can get a ticket to this game against Corinthians USA for just $3. Albion SC vs. Corinthians USA will kick off at 5pm so you will have plenty of time to head to the bars in PB after the game. All you need to do is come to Mission Bay Stadium on the campus of Mission Bay High School with this flyer and your college ID in hand. You can present the flyer digitally (via this post or on social media) if you don’t want to print it out. The team will have a special line at the gate for college student entry. The discount applies to all colleges in San Diego County, including junior colleges. Albion Pros will also be hosting a Meet and Greet party post game at TapRoom San Diego (1269 Garnet Ave, San Diego, CA 92109). So come out and enjoy some great soccer in America’s Finest City and jump on the Albion SC Pro’s train as they look to compete for a national title this season.

David: What level of professionalism do exhibit from the club?

Matt: The level of professionalism that albion exhibits is very high. The coach’s learn a lot from the players and the organization demands a lot from the coaching staff and the players. It’s growing. It’s a very fast growing environment. The culture is fast and the culture is growing. It’s hard to build a reputation of something that’s going to be good moving forward and that is what in the beginning what this organization was meant to do.

David: Since day one you have made an impact and have been a key to Albion’s success this season is there any pressure to continually perform at a high level?

Matt: No. I am just glad that it is this kind pressure that I have to deal with. There are a lot of different pressures in life that can be overwhelming and Can cause a lot of people to have breakdowns. I am happy the pressure that I am dealing with is coming from a game and nothing other than that.

David: What keeps you motivated and pushes you to work harder and be someone the team can rely on?

Matt: Myself. I want to be the best. I want to be the best everytime I step on the field. My motivation is myself. Everyday I want to become better and better and better.  The day that I stop learning and the day that I stop wanting to become better is the day that I will retire.

David: You play both versions of soccer, indoor (San Diego Sockers) and outdoor (Albion SC Pros), which is more fun to play and why?

Matt: Indoor soccer is more fun to play because it’s fast and tons of goals. The fans are right on top of you in most plays and the games are very exciting.

David: Who will be the key from Albion SC Pros in beating the Brazilian affiliate Corinthians USA on Saturday?

Matt: Sticking to the game plan. Continuing to prepare the rest of the week as we move closer to saturday. Preparation is key as they always say. We have a tremendous coach who prides himself on preparation and preparing on what’s to come. So far this week practice has been good. We are looking forward to building off of our 9 points and continue to run the top of the table. We want to get our 12 points to continue the season undefeated.

David: What is the key to beating the Brazilian affiliate Corinthians USA on Saturday?

Matt: I don’t think speed will be a factor. We need to stick to the game plan. We have players that are capable of walking onto the field at any moment and changing the game. The key to winning the game is sticking to the game plan and do what is asked of us. Weather you are a player that plays for 90 minutes or a player that plays for 30 seconds. I think that everyone is a very big part of the team and you can see that we play as a team.

David: Where do you see Albion SC Pros/NPSL going in 5 years?

Matt: I don’t think that Albion will be in the NPSL very long.  The intentions are not to stay longer than a year. I know that they have a lot of investors at every game and tons of interested people in the club. I don’t foresee Albion staying in the NPSL. The NPSL as a whole is a fantastic league. The league is always held to a very high standard with what it brings to the table with young guys who are trying to make it to the next level. I think they will continue to grow and be successful over the next 5 years.

David: What would you tell a college student who has never been to an NPSL game before to entice them to attend?

Matt: Come check out San Diego’s new soccer team. We are a very young and exciting team. We have a good atmosphere thanks to our fan supports The Deep End.  This is a good thing in San Diego that is building to something greater. We need San Diego to come out and support and help this organization grow.
