Chargers to host first ever Dog Draft

In honor of the upcoming NFL Draft, the San Diego Chargers will partner with a local dog rescue organization to host the first-ever Chargers Dog Draft presented by Petco. The Chargers Dog Draft presented by Petco will take place on April 30th at 9 am in front of the Chargers Team Store at Qualcomm Stadium located at Gate G. The Dog Draft will be administered by Second Chance Dog Rescue of San Diego, Calif. This event will be free and open to the public.
The Chargers Dog Draft presented by Petco will begin on social media in the weeks leading up to the event, with posts on Instagram featuring dogs available for adoption from Second Chance Dog Rescue. During this promotional period, information will be provided to help educate the San Diego community about dog adoption, fostering, overpopulation, spaying/neutering.
On the day of the event, a limited number of dogs from Second Chance Dog Rescue will be available for adoption at the Gate G location. Adopters who are not quite ready to adopt, but would like to start the process can have a consultation with rescue staff to answer questions during the event. A player from the Chargers (to be determined) will attend the event.

The San Diego Chargers originated as the Los Angeles Chargers of the American Football League in 1960. The team relocated to San Diego in 1961 and captured the American Football League championship in 1963. It finished first in five of the 10 AFL seasons.
