Albion SC Pros are coming into this rivalry game against NC Battalion as the only undefeated team in the NPSL Southwest Division. This will be the second and final meeting between Albion SC Pros and NC Battalion this season. Albion Pros took game one of the San Diego Derby or #CraftBeerCup on the road at Del Norte Stadium  by a score of 3 to 1 in front of a stunned home crowd. This rematch should have plenty of sparks as the first ever matchup yielded two red cards and eight yellow cards. Albion Pros are coming into this game as the top defensive team in the NPSL Southwest Division meanwhile NC Battalion have league leading firepower having scored the most goals. Please come out this Saturday night at 5:00 PM to watch the two rivals battle at Mission Bay HS. Click here to get your tickets now

Our Albion SC Pros interview of the week for week 8 is Jean Gamain Antoine. Antoine is leading the National Premier Soccer League in fewest goals allowed this season. He has played 790 minutes this season and that includes exhibition games. In those 790 minutes Jean has allowed only 3 goals. The last time that he met the NC Battalion on the pitch he allowed one goal in route to a 3-1 victory. I believe Antoine will play a major role in this weekends game if Albion hopes to steal 3 more points away from the NC Battalion. Please feel free to follow Antoine on Twitter @jean_gamain. Please enjoy our interview with Jean Antoine.

David:  Where did you grow up?

Jean: I grew up in Jeremie, Haiti.

David:  Where did you get your start playing soccer?

Jean:  At Hoover Hebert High school. I started my playing soccer at the age of sixteen.

David:  What drew you to the sport of soccer?

Jean: Growing up in Haiti soccer is very big and kids play everywhere. I would watch street soccer a lot and watch the European leagues on the weekends with my dad. That’s what drew me to soccer.

David:  As a child who was your favorite player & team?

Jean: As child my favorite team was Liverpool FC and my favorite player as a child was Oliver Kahn.

David: What is your favorite pregame ritual.

Jean: My favorite pregame ritual is listening to reggae because it relaxes me and gets me ready for the game. I like to pray and thank God for giving the opportunity to play. I also pray that God will watch over everyone who steps on the field.

David: Which of your exhibition games was the most fun?

Jean: My favorite exhibition game was my first game against Real San Jose. The atmosphere was amazing. I saved a penalty kick in the 80th minute to keep a shutout. Felipe scored the winner and you could feel the passion in the inside the stadium.

David: What inspires you to play soccer?

Jean: My father inspired me to play soccer when I was little. He was a big soccer fan and we would always watch the game together.

David: What is the key to beating NC Battalion this weekend?

Jean: The key to beating the NC Battalion is playing as a team. We need to have a good week of practice and follow the coaches instruction. If we can do that will win the game.

David: Jean, if you were talking to your Hoover High School 17-year-old self, what advice would you give yourself?

Jean: Get better grades and stay in school.

David: Do you have any advice for children getting into soccer?

Jean: listen to your parents, listen to your coaches and stay in school. With hard work everything is possible.

David: What’s your biggest strength?

Jean: My biggest strength is my agility.

David: What’s your biggest weakness?

Jean: My biggest weakness would be my foot work. I have to improve on that.

David: Where do you see Albion SC Pros/NPSL going in 5 years?

Jean: In the next five years I think Albion SC Pros will be playing in the USL. Now we need to take it game by game and accomplish our goal for the season. I think that the NPSL is going to expand to more teams in the coming years.

David: Where do you see yourself in 3 years.

Jean: I can see myself continuing to play for Albion SC Pros. I have no clue where the future will take me but I’m very happy to represent San Diego. I would love to keep doing that.

David: Who is your superhero?

Jean: I would have to say Superman it’s my favorite superhero.
