SDSU 53rd 30th 62nd 7th 24th
CAL 9th 3rd 54th 64th 115th

San Diego State Overall (1-0) Conf (0-0)

The three players to look out for would be QB Christian Chapman, RB Donnel Pumphrey and WR Mikah Holder. Chapman has completed 16 of 25 passes for 283 yards and two touchdowns. Pumphrey has had 21 carries for 98 yards and one touchdown. So far this season Holder has 4 receptions for 160 yards and two touchdowns. San Diego State’s offensive line will play a major role in how this game is played. The San Diego State offensive line did not look very good against New Hampshire. If the Cal defensive line brings a ton of pressure I would expect SDSU to stay away from the passing game and pound the ground with Pumphrey. The San Diego State defensive is going to tell us who wins this game. They need to shut down the Bears defensive allowing the Aztecs to take command in the game. We could see a very high scoring game if the defense is unable to contain the Bears offense. The Aztec Defense is ranked 7th in total defense pass efficiency. They will be going up against one of the best passing offense in the nation. The Aztec defense will need to hold out strong if they want to win this game.

CAL Overall (1-0) and Conf (0-0)

The three players to look out for would be QB Davis Webb, RB Khalfani Muhammad and WR Chad Hansen. Webb has completed 38 of 54 passes for 441 yards and four touchdowns. Muhammad has had 10 carries for 96 yards and one touchdown. Hansen has 14 receptions for 160 yards and two touchdowns. Taking a look at the national rankings listed at the top of the article California is a really good football team. CAL is going to need to shut down the Aztecs running game if they wish to win this game. They will want to force San Diego State to throw the football. Offensively Cal will want to keep the ball away from the SDSU Defensive backs. The SDSU Secondary is the best in the Mountain West Conference. The smart play would be to throw underneath the secondary for 5- to 7- yard gains.
