Valley View Casino Center – The San Diego Sockers fell behind the Turlock Express just 66 seconds into the match, but ultimately came back and won the contest 9-3 in front of 2,599 fans on Friday (Dec. 9).

A trio of Sockers (6-2) had a pair of goals.  Matt Clare was the first player with two goals.  The fifth-year veteran scored back-to-back goals in the second quarter.  Both strikes were unassisted.

Kraig Chiles scored the first of his two goals in the second quarter to tie the game up at 2-all off an outstanding pass from Clare.  In the fourth quarter, he scored his 298th career goal off a Brandon Escoto assist.

Erick Tovar scored both of his goals in the second half.  In the third quarter, the Monterey, Mexico native scored with Felipe Gonzalez (who scored the first goal of the night himself) to put the Sockers up 6-2.  Tovar closed the scoring out in the fourth quarter with 5:35 remaining with Luan Oliveira providing the pass that led to the goal.

Chiles is now tied atop the All-Time Sockers goal scoring list with Branko Segota.  Segota set the record some 25 years ago, in what was then called the San Diego Sports Arena.  Chiles will look to move atop the list by himself next Sunday (Dec. 18) when the Sockers travel to take on the Tacoma Stars in a 3:05 fixture.  The last time the two clubs met, Chiles scored a quartet of goals.

The Sockers will return to the home pitch on January 8 against the Ontario (California) Fury for a 5:05 p.m. game at the Valley View Casino Center.
