Longtime Socker Wanted To Play Closer To His Family
Trade Will Provide San Diego With Future Considerations

SAN DIEGO (Monday, November 27, 2017 – #17-13) – The San Diego Sockers have traded longtime defender Victor Quiroz to the Soles De Sonora for future considerations. As per Club policy, terms of the deal will not be announced.

The veteran was a steady defender with the Sockers. Last season, he played in 18 games and added 15 points from the back with two goals and 13 helpers. In 2015, he was one of three players to appear in all 24 games, contributing eight goals and eight assists.

Sockers Director of Player Personnel Miguel “Chiky” Luna said, “There were several factors in considering this trade, most importantly was getting Victor closer to his family. We would like to thank him for his hard work, dedication, and professionalism with the Sockers organization; we wish him nothing but the best.”

Quiroz played for Mexican Futsal and Mexico Beach Soccer National team before expanding his professional career to the United States. Victor played in the 2012 FIFA Futsal World Cup for his home nation Mexico, scoring one goal and helping them eventually make it to the finals against the United States. Victor, 41, was born in Mexico.

San Diego returns to action after the holiday on Friday, December 1, 7:35 p.m. on the road in Tacoma. The Sockers play at Valley View Casino Center on Sunday, December 3, 5:05 p.m. versus Sonora. It will be SoCal Soccer Night, and the first 2,500 fans will receive a free Sockers Team Poster, which they can have autographed after the game by the players on the field. Free parking is always courtesy of the team. Gates open at 4:00 p.m.
