From San Diego State University to the Seattle Seahawks; that has been the path so far of Rashaad Penny. The 22-year-old running back was drafted by the Seahawks at the recent NFL draft and he will be hoping he can convert his impressive school play into a glittering NFL career. The Seahawks hope he is the answer to their running back problems, and he is certainly an interesting player to follow over the coming seasons as he grows into an important role with Seattle.
The Seahawks spent their first round pick on Penny, drafting him at number 27, so they clearly like what they see in him. While the door is open for him to be a starter as early as this season, he will need time to adjust to the NFL, so it is wise to temper expectations a little for now. However, he has all the right tools to become a very solid option in the backfield, with the ability to run and catch the ball to make big plays. Don’t be surprised to see him returning kicks too – he has a good record doing so and has good speed that can get him up the field in a matter of seconds.
An unofficial depth chart on a Seattle fan page has Penny as the top running back right now, so the fans clearly think he will get the opportunity to shine this season. It is a position where the Seahawks are very light, and in desperate need of some help, so it comes as no surprise that they took a running back with their first pick.
With a vital addition to their offense, many will expect the Seahawks to perform better this season than what we saw last season. They struggled at running back all year long but will hope that problem has now been resolved by adding Penny to their roster. It would be no surprise to see Russell Wilson lead the Seahawks on a deep playoff run next season, and many people are going to be interested in them. Oddschecker have a number of free bet offers for fans interested in backing the Seahawks to strike gold and win the 2018 Super Bowl, including a no-deposit offer from SkyBet. Whether it happens this coming season remains to be seen, but with Penny on their team, they look sure to be a better football team.
The Seattle Seahawks saw their weakness, as did everyone else and they have tried their best to address that. They took San Diego State University running back Rashaad Penny in the hope that he can transform their offense. Penny looks sure to be a threat, with the ability to make good running plays as well as being available to catch the ball out of the backfield if needed. The addition of someone as dynamic as him will take focus away from their other players, giving them additional time on the ball and that can only be a good thing for the future of the Seahawks.
