ASC San Diego made it to the NPSL Playoffs by defeating F.C. Golden State on June 23, 2018 with a 3-2 final score. “We’re so proud of everyone involved in the organization,” said ASC’s head coach, Ziggy Kortoski. “This is our second title in three years, and to know that every player, every coach, every member of the staff and every fan does their part to make this team a winner makes this very, very special. It’s a full-team victory in the truest sense.”
ASC San Diego is the first social enterprise professional sports team in San Diego and one of the only soccer clubs in America to successfully build a “full pyramid” organization—a professional soccer team that sits atop, a premier youth development system in the middle and community programs that form the base. Founded in 1981 in Point Loma, ASC is one of San Diego’s oldest soccer clubs and has since grown into one of the top 30 youth clubs in America per Soccer America, playing for national championships at almost every youth level. In 2015, ASC launched a professional team to complete its “full pyramid” strategy, competing in the National Premier Soccer League and qualifying for the US Open Cup. It is now regarded as San Diego’s most successful outdoor professional soccer team drawing record crowds and proving to be a winning organization.
ASC operates as a social enterprise, with the goal of maximizing its impact on the San Diego community as the club continues to grow and see financial success. ASC’s vision is to make its way to very top of the US soccer pyramid, representing San Diego at the most elite levels of the game and funding critical projects in our community along the way.
