MEDIA RELEASE:

A rare collection of photographs showcasing San Diego State University greatest football moments spanning over 50 years will be displayed for sale on July 26th from 5pm-7pm at Nelson Photo in Point Loma during an exclusive photo show.  

Guests will include SDSU Coach Rocky Long; winner of 3 Mountain West Championships with an esteemed record of 64-29 during his tenureship at SDSU. Since his arrival at SDSU, Coach Long has seen 15 of his players drafted into the NFL. The event will include stories from guests like Coach Long, food, drink and sales of photos. All photos will be for sale and 100% of the proceeds will go to benefit the San Diego State Aztec Football program. 

These stunning photos belong to Ernie Anderson who began taking photos while he ran track for SDSU. Unhappy with The Daily Aztec’s coverage of the track team, Anderson began taking photos of his teammates and bringing them to the editor. After a few submissions, The Daily Aztec sent him on assignments to cover other sports including football.

“The school didn’t seem to have a sense of history,” Anderson said.  “Action shots for any sport before 1968 don’t exist; all of the pictures you see of Don Coryell in that era are mine.”

Now some of these iconic photos focusing on the greatest moments of football history at SDSU will be available for sale during this one night show.  

“San Diego State has always been a real important part of my life,” said Anderson. “I got an education, a great experience, developed a great network and it served as a basis for a very professional, successful life.  So, in addition to enjoying the photography, it’s just been a great way to give back to the school.”
