June 28th 2012 on the campus of San Diego State University … I sat down with my team in a meeting room and an hour later San Diego Sports Domination was born. Today marks seven years. San Diego Sports Domination (SDSD for short) is an award-winning sports blog based in San Diego, California. We created this blog to share our love of sports with the San Diego Community and to help cover teams that the San Diego Media might not have the bandwidth to cover.

Since our creation we have been read in over 180 countries around the world. We have received over 450,000 views. We have also won two blogging awards (eCollege Finders Top Collegiate Blog Award and Our City San Diego’s Top 10 Blog Award). We have had articles linked to newspapers and blogs all over the United States. We have worked with many major brands across the country to cover events in San Diego. We have worked with Bellator MMA, Dove Just For Men, Petco, America’s Best Racing, Delaware North Sportservice, Staples and AT&T just to name a few.

We are the largest all-inclusive sports blog in San Diego. We have been guests on many radio shows including Xtra Sports 1360, Mighty 1090 “Scott & BR Show”, ESPN 1700 “Rod Luck”, Talk Now San Antonio (ESPN), SB Nation Podcasts and many more. We have been invited onto a few local TV stations to talk about San Diego Sports. Those stations being NBC 7 San Diego, CBS 8 San Diego and KUSI Sports. We also have spoken with Fox 5 San Diego just incase they need a sports expert to comment. We almost did a March Madness segment with them last year.

Back in 2016 we teamed up with Oakwood Escrow SD and Ignite Now Media to create a new sports segment on The American Dream TV Show. The goal of the show was to provide sports stories to fans of the American Dream and SDSD. I was one of the main driving forces behind getting guests to appear on The American Dream Sports Stories. All in all we had guests ranging from super fans, NFL players, Olympic Gold Medalists and more. Below is one of the segments of the show that I hosted.

We have made leaps and strides to make San Diego Sports Domination your go to destination for San Diego Sports News. For the first six years of our site we have provided game day coverage on Social Media and through post game articles. In December of 2018, we asked all of our fans one question. Instead of posting one high quality cover photo would you guys like full photo albums from events? The response was heavily in favor of posting a ton of photos. That new strategy was implemented on January 1st 2019. Since then we have had over 200,000 views on the blog this year. Site traffic this year has grown exponentially. We have had 6x as many hits in 6 months as we did in all of 2018.

San Diego Sports Domination has been a project from the very beginning. We have relied on our staff of dedicated writers and photographers. Our staff does this because they love sports. We have had many writers along for the ride with us… but two of them stand out. Olivia Sandusky and Scott Koppenhaver. SDSD has helped both of them enter into their current fields. Scott wrote for us back in 2014 covering San Diego State Baseball on the blog and on all of our social media platforms. Scott did an amazing job. I was honored to give Scott a glowing recommendation during his interview process with the NFL. Scott is now working as a social media content producer at the National Football League. Olivia wrote for us back in 2016 covering Albion SC Pros now ASC San Diego. We connected and I learned about how Olivia wanted to get in front of the camera. I was able to work with Albion to place Olivia as the pre/post game interviewer. Olivia went on to bigger and better things. Olivia is now rocking her career as an on air TV journalist.

So far in 2019 San Diego Sports Domination has provided coverage of 83 events with three more on Saturday. Then taking a break for the month of July. This fall we will be adding some high school football photography into our line up of sports coverage. We could not have done it without the photos of Tony Amat, Edwin Dickerson, Von Ware, Chris Atkans and John Mathew Harrison. Our professional photographer’s photos have brought San Diego Sports Domination to a whole new level! Also thank you to all of our loyal readers and followers.
