SAN DIEGO — On Wednesday morning, the San Diego Strike Force unveiled new uniforms, new attitude, new front office, pretty much new everything on the USS Midway‘s Flight Deck.  The team will feature a new logo, new uniforms, new tag line (#BombsAway) and new divisional opponents in 2020.

There will be some carryovers, like head coach Burt Grossman and second team All-IFL kicker Ernesto Lacayo on the field. While general manager Ryan Eucker will stay on in his role.

The home uniform takes its cue from Navy and Marine Corps flight suits. On the Left shoulder will be camouflaged US Flags, just as it is for active duty pilots. On the right shoulder where the unit patch would be for the active duty pilots, will be the Strike Force’s new logo.

The road uniforms are called “Interceptor Whites” as they are white jersey tops with flight suit green shoulders with the above-mentioned US Flag and Strike Force logos on the respective shoulders.

New this year, the Strike Force will debut a new alternate uniform. The alternates will be black from head to toe. The flight suit green will be the numbers. All of the uniforms will have name plates on the back with the new team font. The home and alternate helmets will feature a tiger print like those of the 1940’s P-41 Mustangs of World War II. The road helmets will feature a very low-key SD in team font.

During the press conference, it was announced that the league meetings will be here in San Diego in late September, when the league schedule will be ratified. Also on the agenda at the league meetings will be expansion teams. Some reports have Albuquerque and Oakland getting teams for the 2020 season. Those reports have the team in Albuquerque (Duke City Gladiators) are moving up from the Champions Indoor Football League (CIFL) where they have won the last two championships. There is also talk about Roy Choi, the owner of San Diego and Cedar Rapids, will be bringing a team into the league in Oakland. That piece will be confirmed at the league meetings.
