STAATS SIGNED FOR ANOTHER THREE
San Diego — The San Diego Seals announced today (Friday, Sept. 13) that Rookie of the Year Austin Staats has signed a three-year extension. The only hurdle left is for the league to give their ok on the deal.
Terms of the deal were not released by the team.
Staats is the reigning Rookie of the year in the National Lacrosse League but his season was cut short due to a ACL injury he sustained against the Georgia Storm on April 3. In the 14 games that he was able to participate in the Six Nations, Ontario native racked up 61 points (32g, 29a).
“It’s a very exciting day for our organization and for the fans to have Austin locked up for the next three years,” said general manager and head coach Patrick Merrill. “He proved to be one of the best young players in the game last year and we know the best is still yet to come for him. He loves the city of San Diego and takes great pride in being a Seal.”
“Becoming an NLL player was a dream come true and I never could have imagined what it would be like to play in a place like San Diego,” said Staats. “I’ve made this my home and I’m thrilled to be here for three more years and continue to be a part of this community.”
The Seals will return to Pechanga Arena San Diego on December 14 to host the Toronto Rock. Season ticket memberships deposits can be made at Sealslax.com.
