SEALS CLAW OUT A WIN AGAINST PANTHER CITY
Dane Dobbie scores a game-high five goals to lead the Seals to victory
SAN DIEGO — Veteran Dane Dobbie scored five goals and 19-year old rookie goaltender Chris Origlieri notched his first professional win in his professional start in a 15-12 decision at the Pechanga Arena.
The Seals (3-1) keep pace with Colorado to stay in first place in the Western Conference.
Dobbie scored his first three goals in the first quarter in a natural hat trick (no other scores interrupted his three goals) over the course of just 104 seconds. He would later close out his scoring with a goal in the second and finally in the opening seconds of the fourth quarter.
Wes Berg scored the first two goals for the Seals. He would score his ninth goal of the season, and his hat trick for the contest, with just under two and a half minutes left in the game.
Rookie Mac O’Keefe would score three in the game, notching his first hat trick of his career. The first two were in back-to-back fashion 2:22 seconds apart, with the second being on the power play. His fifth goal of the campaign and third of the night came in the early portion of the third quarter.
Not to be out done, Austin Staats put three power play goals. Two were in the second quarter and the final in the third.
Cam Holding wrapped everything up with an empty net goal with 55 seconds remaining in the contest.
Jeremy Noble paced the Seals with six helpers. Tre Leclaire (4A), Berg (2A), Patrick Shoemay (2A), Zack Greer (2A) and Holding (1G, 1A) were the other Seals with multiple points.
Panther City (0-4) was paced by Phil Caputo who netted four goals along with an assist. Will Malcom (4A), Patrick Dodds (2G, 3A), Mike Triolo (2G, 1A), Nathan Grenon (2G, 1A), Matt Hossack (1G, 1A) and Liam Byrnes (2A) were the multi point players for Panther City.
NOTES: With his five goals, Dane Dobbie now has a league leading 16 goals on the season and 451 career goals putting him in eighth place all-time in NLL history…Panther City goaltender Nick Damude registered an assist in the fourth quarter giving the former Seal two assists on the season…San Diego went 5-for-8 on the penalty kill. That improved the teams ranking from dead last (14th) into a tie for ninth.
Next Game: Panther City — PCLC will travel to Nassau County to take on the New York Riptide next Saturday (Jan. 15). San Diego — The Seals will travel North of the Border to take on Saskatchewan on Friday, Jan. 14 at 5:30 PM Pacific. Both games, and all games in the NLL, will be available on ESPN+.
