San Diego — The San Diego Seals have been living on the edge in the last few games. Instead of getting a lead and keeping the “foot on the pedal” they have been letting off the gas.
On Friday, April 15 that strategy came back and bit the Seals (9-7) again as they dropped the final home game of the regular season 11-10 to Panther City Lacrosse Club (7-9). The loss is their fifth straight.
The newly acquired Brett Hickey logged a hat trick (22 goals on the year) in the losing effort. Casey Jackson (17), Jeremy Noble (12) and Austin Staats (31) all potted two goals in the game.

Will Malcom of Panther City totaled six points on the evening (3g/3a) to lead their offense. Malcom scored his 36th goal of the season which tied the game up at 10-all with 91 seconds left in the game. Phil Caputo scored with just 27.2 seconds left to secure the victory and his hat trick.
Malcom opened the scoring nearly eight and a half minutes into the game. 77 seconds later, Staats got his first tally of the night. Four goals by Panther City alternating between Patrick Dodds and Caputo to make it 5-1 PC just 53 seconds into the second quarter.
San Diego would go on to score seven of the next eight goals.
Hickey would score less than three minutes later to stop the bleeding. Some four minutes later, Noble would cash in. Panther City would score to take a 6-3 lead. However…
Over the next 7:44 of game play, the Seals would score five goals to take a 8-6 lead.
Malcom would score to get PCLC to within one. Noble would score his second goal of the night to push it back to 9-7 Seals.
But Panther City would score four of the final five goals on the evening.
San Diego will end the regular season on the road with stops in Saskatchewan (April 23) and Vancouver (April 30).
The Seals have already claimed a playoff spot but need help in order to secure a home game. Should they get that help, that game will be either May 7 or 8.
